MONKS OF O.L.V-PHOTOS,part 5

Trappist Monks live around the world in silent communities, outside the cities in rural or hillery areas.they own their acres for cattle, crop, vegetables, trees, fish, breweries, breadfactories. They try to earn more than the costs of their undertakings.

The communities consist of 17 to 35 men,Monks and candidates. It takes several years before you are accepted, the entryfees so to say are high. You need to give yourself 100% to God,in a celibate relationship.Details can be found i part 1 and 2. A more scientific approach can be found in- The Cisterciencers -book.(Cistercian Order). Saint Bernard of Clairvaux,1090-1153, Thomas Menton, 1915-1968, Saint Benedict, founder of the Western Monasticism, 480- 547 AD , and the socalled Desert Fathers, somewhere in between 251 - 356, have contributed to the Monk/Monasteryo Rules and Laws.

Other contributions came from The AssumptionAbbey.org, Ava,Missouri,USA,more esp.for the Asian monks.

The Rule of Benedict underlines the Monks deep desire to seek God in the community life of a monastery.

Clairvaux,i the 11th and 12 th centuries, developed the Cistercian Order into a Trappist Order in the 17th century.it is highly recommended to study these writers.

i finally add photos.
God bless our Monks.
